Fall Turns to Winter

December 6, 2011

There is probably more cleanup I could do, but I don’t mind leaving a little mess for the wild life to hide in or enjoy.  We are pretty much ready for the snow to fall.

The leaves are in the compost pile, which was steaming, last time I went out to add some banana peels.  The green plants that are left are this parsley plant, the oregano and strawberries on the right and out of the picture on the left is the fennel, kale and swiss chard, which seem to withstand the cold temperatures.

Three more praying mantis sacs were found in this large stand of miscanthus grass along with a dead praying mantis.

Time to spend time with family and enjoy Thanksgiving.

Cousins reconnect and draw a family tree.

Checking in on the football game.

Cooking:  A week ago I ate the last of the peppers.  Now the only thing from the garden that is left is the chopped parsley in the freezer.
